The most employed process is the FCAW process which gives not only a great output but also defect-free welds. The FCAW process makes quality less operator dependent. Furthermore the system is used by local welders/operators because of its simplicity. The lack of qualified welders is a concern for most pipeline contractors and a simple to understand programmable pipe welding system is really appreciated. The system is mostly used with a standard 30° V-bevel and does not require special bevel geometries, but can also be used for narrow groove geometries (J-bevel)".
